When I was assigned the Adidas brand account and, with designing an entire performance watch line from scratch in 18 mos., I told my wife that this would be the final wave I would ride at Fossil. This project was the culmination of everything I had championed and learned over the last decade with the company. It involved coming up with a product that had a unique point-of-view at a time when the sports watch market was very crowded. I also had to capture the essence of one of world's most prestigious, well-known athletic and lifestyle brands. Launching any product is a collaborative effort. There are hundreds of people from designers, engineers, project managers, vendors, shippers, marketers, and sales personnel that all contribute to the success. If any of those links are weak, the program can miss the potential it might have experienced. The act of designing a product is not an isolated endeavor.
